Make It Monday #153: Watercolored Backgrounds With Heat Embossed Sentiments

I used this technique by Dawn to create another birthday card.  My supply of birthday cards is pretty slim so decided I need to make more..
You can see Dawn's technique Here
There is a similar card that Kristina made using this technique so I used a combination of both.
I used orange, red, yellow in water colors

Make It Monday #194 Stamped Border & ColourQ 273

My second card today for

Feels so good to be creating again.  This is for my granddaughter, Maddy's 14 birthday.  She will be with me this weekend and hopefully, we will go shopping for her birthday.  It's so hard when you have a birthday so close to Christmas....

Make It Monday #194 Sympathy Cards and Stamped Borders

Oh my gosh, it has been way too long since I have made a card.  I think it's been 43 days.  When I got back from Hawaii on November 29th, I really did not have the desire to come into my craft room.  I thought, oh no, have I lost my desire to make cards?  I think that  the fact that it was 4 weeks till Christmas and I was not completely ready yet that my mind was totally into the Christmas spirit.  It even made it more so because it was snowing when we got off the plane and it really was beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Oh and I got a photo light box from my nephew and his girlfriend and this is my first picture using it.  I wasn't sure what I was doing, but I think this came out ok.  Well, I will need to practice with it some more.
So we had a wonderful Christmas and now I need to make a birthday card for my granddaughter, Maddy, who will be 14 on Monday, the 29th.  A few days ago I tried to make a card for her but my mojo was just not working.  So finally, I came into my room and was able to make this card for
Make It Monday with Melissa Phillips and I must say I was happy with it.  Usually, I like softer, clean and simple Sympathy cards.
PTI's Meadow Greens, in Aqua Mist and Sweet Blush, Butterfly Dreams and Words of Comfort.
Now I need to make a card for Maddy.  I think I will use this technique on her card too.
I have made a few comments here and there but now it's time to get back into making comments on a regular basis.

Hawaiian Vacation

Aloha, two Weeks in Paradise!

So it is hard to get back in the swing of things when you spend 2 weeks in Paradise, specifically, Kona, HI.
The first week as you all know was spent with my BFF of 57 years, Colleen of One Smile Lifts a Spirit.  Her husband surprised us with a Mustang convertable.  That was so fun whipping down the highway with the top down. We sat by the pool, played on the beaches, she snorkled (I love the water but have a little, (BIG) fear of deep water).  We tried to take the Helicopter tour of the Volcano and Waterfalls, but both times it was cancelled due to weather.  Oh well, maybe next time!!!
Colleen left and I met up with my son who turned 40 on November 25th.  He is the one who decided that he wanted to spend his 40th with his mom and dad and family in Hawaii, so I have him to thank for this wonderful trip.
We spent more time on the beaches, took a trip to Black Sand Beach to see the turtles, went on a dinner cruise and saw the manta rays.  Had sushi for his birthday dinner and then went to Kona Kozy's Comedy and Magic show, then a luau for Thanksgiving.  It certainly didn't seem like Thanksgiving and was very strange to see Christmas decorations all around.
Got home on Saturday, the 29th to snow falling.  We only had about 1-2 inches but it was so pretty and was cold enough for it to hang around for 3 or 4 days.
So, this is basically the first time I have been on my blog in three weeks.  I have been getting ready for Christmas, decorating, wrapping gifts, finishing shopping and today we are going to get our tree.  Not sure when I will be able to be in my craft room again to stamp, cause next week I have a minor surgery on my hand for trigger finger.  I was able to make a few comments on the MIM, but hope to catch up soon.

CAS(E) this Sketch #99

This is a card for my oldest son who will be 40 on November 25th.  For his birthday, he wanted to have me, his dad and youngest son to spend the week with him and his wife in Kona, HI.  It didn't take me a second to say yes.  I don't know how it happened that he is this old????
I have been to Hawaii only once and that was in 1980 so I think I am due.  I didn't want to go all that way and only spend 7 days there with two of those days traveling, so I asked my BFF, Colleen if she would like to go with me the week before and she was able to convince her husband that he would be fine without her for a week.  So on my blog the countdown is 7 days.  I will take the train to Portland on the 14th and we will fly out the next day to beautiful Hawaii.  We are beside ourselves with excitement.  It will be sooooo fun....
I will enter this in CAS(E) this Sketch

On Line Card Class Copics Day 13-2 - Having fun

My second card for the last day of Copics class.  What a great, awesome class this was.  I learned so much.
This was a technique, Jennifer showed today coloring die cuts.  I used PTI's Turning a new Leaf and Bold Bouquet for the flowers.  I inlaid the leaves and made a side panel using my copics to match the red flower.  This is another great tip from Jennifer.  I popped the flowers using small round pop ups from Deanna K.

On Line Card Class Copics Day 9 - Background coloring with Copics

My last card for today using Kristina's technique making a one layer card look like it has layers.
Love this little ballerina.

On Line Card Class Copics - Day 9

My second card creating the cloud background shown by Sandy Allnock.  I did not draw my clouds but had a stencil that I outlined the top of.  I can't even draw a straight line free hand.  Lol.
Actually, this turned out better than I first thought.

On Line Card Class Copics Day 9 - Background coloring with Copics

My first card for the day.  Today is the day I take my 94 year old dad to I-Hop for breakfast and then for a ride.  So I didn't get into my craft room until 1 or so.  I was a little nervous trying this method and actually had tried a giraffe but I messed up on the background by adding a third color that did not work.  I like how this turned out.  I used Jennifer's method of making the border match the color in the elephant by using the same Copic colors.
Tomorrow is Grandparents Day at my grandson's school so I will also be late getting started.  They do a program and we visit the class and then he is free to go with us for lunch and then come to my house.

On Line Card Class Copics Day 8-2

So I struggled a bit trying to figure out what to do with this little guy on a great big card and finally came up with this.  I think it turned out really cute.
PTI's Birthday Text Block in Hawaiian Shores
Birthday Bash colored with Copics and Clear Wink of Stella.  Gold embroidery thread.
This puppy was done using the blender pen to give it a softer look, which was Debbie's technique.
Fun putting some cards together.

On Line Card Class Copics Day 8

So, day 8 has videos and techniques from Debbie Hughes and Shari Carroll
Debbie used the blender pen to make a softer look on your image.  I did not do well with this technique on the flower.
So I used my practice sheet to pick out a color combo that worked for me and colored another flower for this card.  I want to save my practice sheets with all the colors written on them for future reference.  This is only partially cut out shown by Jennifer so you don't have to cut the whole image.  I used the same colors to make the border piece behind my image.
The butterfly embossing folder is from The Paper Studio.

On Line Card Class Day 7 -2 Flowers

I only colored in two of these flowers but want to practice with other colors.

On Line Card Class Day 7

Day 7
I only have 2 W's and 2 C's so this image was hard to do.  And my black and W5 need to be refilled which need to be ordered.  I couldn't even finish the bat.

Merry Monday #128-2 Polka Dots and/or Stripes

Here is another card for Merry Monday
I have been taking Jennifer McGuire's Copics on-line class and have learned so much from this class and all of the wonderful instructors.  They are so amazing.  This is a first attempt at coloring a full image and adding it to a card outside of class.  I think she turned out pretty good.
This has been so much fun.
I used a white gel pen to add the polka dots and PTI's Pure Poppy striped paper.
La La Land Marci Christmas Blessings

Merry Monday #128 - Polka Dots and or Stripes

A card for Merry Monday

On Line Card Class - Copics Day 6

Day 6 Blending - Various texture techniques using colorless blender
I tried the corduroy look with the first purple image and just ruined it.  I don't know what made me think I could do this since I can't make a straight line for the life of me.  Anyway, so had to make another purple doggie and then added polka dots with the colorless blender.  I also added polka dots to the third doggie.  On fox number 1, I tried alcohol  on a washcloth for some texture.  It's very hard to see.  I finally found my colorless blender refill and tried it and it seemed to work better.
