I have been waiting since October to make this announcement, however in November we found out that my son, Brad and his wife, Ramie are expecting very high risk triplets so we have been cautious about spreading the news, YES, I said triplets. Oh my gosh what a shocker. So they have a set of identical twin boys and a girl. The twins, however are called MoMo twins. Their chance of conceiving these type of twins is 1 in 200,000. And they did not use fertility drugs and my son had a reverse vasectomy a year ago, so I'm sure the odds are even greater. You remember that he just remarried last June, this is the second marriage for both of them and he has 3 girls ages, 12, 15 & 17. Ramie did not have any biological children, but a 17 year old adopted son. And of course they wanted a baby together.!!!! So the babies are progressing along quite well, all genetic testing came back great and they are growing as well as single term babies. They are doing so well. Ramie is about 22 weeks and they need to get her to at least 28 weeks and hopefully to 32 weeks when she will have a "C" Section. So the first week of March she will have to go into the hospital for 24/7 care until the babies are born. The risk is that the twins can be entangled in the umbilical cords or air supply could be cut off. If one of the babies needs to be born, than they all have to come out and will undoubtedly spend several weeks in the NICU.
So they will probably be born hopefully sometime in April. Their actual due date should be June 20th.
We are beyond excited about these little blessings although it took us all a while to get here. So please keep them in your prayers that we can get them to 28 or better yet 32 weeks and that they are all born healthy.
Yesterday, my sister and I had a baby shower for them and they got so many cute things and it is really getting exciting.
Here is a description of the type of MoMo twins.
Monoamniotic twins are identical twins that share the same amniotic sac within their mother’s uterus. Monoamniotic twins are always identical, always monochorionic and are usually termed Monoamniotic-Monochorionic ("MoMo") twins. They also share the placenta, but have two separate umbilical cords.
This is where the high risk comes in
Thanks for stopping by.
